Usually a great place to eat. Today I took my parents for late breakfast/lunch. I specifically asked "if the caldo was ready", the lady called and checked on her ear piece and said yes. I did not get fresh caldo. Era recalentado. I could tell by the vegetables, the broth, old cilantro floating with fresh one. All I ask be honest, do not try to fool people. I was still going to consume and spend money. I didn't comment out of respect to my elderly parents. But that caldo was horrible.

The RGV legend @rogeriogarza also recommended this place and it was behind the hotel I was at. Since it was that close I was like sure why not. Pull up and it’s at a shopping center so parking is not really an issue, getting out is since you gotta go half a mile to turn around if you miss it lol. Walk in and it’s Americana galore. That kind that screams “I know where I was Jan 6”. I suppose I get service but it’s with trepidation, dunno. I finally order and get my food reasonably later. However once my server finally gives me my food she goes over to sit with I guess “Big Daddy” himself and that was the last time I got service until my check. Chicken Chilaquiles 6/10 - I mean it’s just an insane amount of food and cheese. It just lacked flavor and the chicken was drier than Alex Jones’ monthly views. If you want to eat once in a day this is the move. Side of Eggs 7/10 - standard 7 here I got these thinking I wasn’t going to get a portion size enough for “Big Daddy”. I played myself. I suppose there are good things here? Dunno it had people coming and going. These portion sizes explain “Fat Roger” when he would come back from Brownsville. Follow me on IG Eats_By_Puig

When we got here the place was packed, it’s around 10am. Tables opened up quickly and the staff was diligently helping seat everyone waiting. The food was delicious. We ordered biscuits and gravy which actually the best we’ve had in south texas. The mini fideo which was not mini, it was 16oz! The menudo needed nothing, lots of meat and not filled with hominy. This is a small restaurant with big flavor. A must stop if you’re in Brownsville!

Love the theme of the restaurant. The food is okay. The beans taste like can refried beans. The hash browns were great. Coffee tastes great. Just be careful when they ask what kind of side you want (tortillas, toast, etc.) The waitress offered my husband all the options and he picked a flour tortilla, which ended up being nearly $4. It got hard and tough to eat pretty fast, so definitely not worth it.

Ordered via DoorDash. Chicken was very moist and flavorful!!! Everything cooked great! Edit! This was our first of three orders in 2 weeks at this restaurant. First one was great 2nd order was missing any toppings on grilled chicken and chicken fried chicken had NO gravy! Third time ordering they DID NOT put gravy on the country fried steak and they chose not to wrap the toast (they did the other times) instead they put it directly on top of our food which made it so soggy! Won’t even mention ignoring the request for butter for the corn! NO consistency! Would not recommend unless maybe dining in so you’re able to insist on getting what’s advertised! Not ordering from here a fourth time I PROMISE!
